A Conversation with Pollyanna, Founder of Rosa&Blue

We sat down for a chat with Pollyanna, founder of Rosa&Blue; a B Corp® certified children’s sleepwear brand known for its sustainable bamboo and organic cotton pyjamas, designed for babies and young children with sensitive skin. Inspired by early motherhood, Pollyanna created Rosa&Blue to offer breathable, hypoallergenic and beautifully designed sleepwear, with each print hand-painted in-house. In this Q&A, we talk about building a sustainable children’s brand, life with little ones, and her go-to bedtime routines and skincare essentials for calm, comfortable nights.

What inspired you to start Rosa & Blue?

As a parent, I have a passion for high-quality children’s sleepwear and clothing. The idea started when my first daughter was born, and I had a dream of designing soft sleepwear paired with simplistic prints and on-trend colours. Whilst pregnant with my second daughter and working from home during a global pandemic, I started looking at turning my dream into a reality and from here, Rosa & Blue was born!

Where does the name Rosa & Blue come from?

It's named after my 2 daughters, Rosa (7) & Bluebell (5)

How do you balance style with practicality when designing for children? 

At Rosa & Blue, style and practicality go hand in hand. Our timeless, hand-painted prints ensure each piece feels elevated and enduring, while thoughtful details like two-way zips, zip guards and adaptable features make dressing and night-time changes simple for parents. Our soft, breathable bamboo fabric is durable and easy to care for, combining functionality with unmatched comfort.

How has having young children shaped the way you run your business?

Having young children has fundamentally changed how I approach running a business, mostly for the better. It’s forced me to become far more disciplined with my time. I’m much more focused on efficiency now; there’s less room for unnecessary meetings or drawn-out decision-making, so I prioritise what actually moves the needle.

What are your everyday must-haves with little ones?

When my girls were young, I could never be without beautifully soft muslins. Times change so there are lots of new and exciting baby products on the market now - I’d definitely have a Doona.

What does a typical bedtime routine look like in your home?

6pm bath, bit of tv, cup of milk, both girls read, Bluebell goes to bed at 7pm and Rosa goes to bed at 8pm.

When it comes to your children’s skincare, what do you look for?

No nasties, perfect for sensitive skin, my girls swim a lot, so we get through a lot of gentle moisturiser that sinks in quickly!

Any simple tips for keeping little ones’ skin calm and happy after bath time?

Soothing music, nursery rhymes, lavender spray on pillow, little baby massage before super soft Rosa & Blue pyjamas.

About Pollyanna

Pollyanna grew up in the Kent countryside before beginning her career in banking, later leaving her role as a business manager to be closer to home after the birth of her first daughter. Inspired by motherhood and a desire for simple, beautifully designed babywear, she founded Rosa&Blue in 2021. Working closely with her husband, an artist who brings each design to life through hand-painted illustrations, Pollyanna has built the brand around family, creativity and thoughtful design, and now lives in Kent with her husband, their two young daughters and family pets.
