Our Favourite Baby Bathing Tips (From the First Dip to Splash Time!)

29 Jul 2025

Bathing your baby can feel both exciting and nerve-wracking at first, but it quickly becomes one of the most joyful parts of your routine. Here’s how to keep it gentle, safe, and stress-free, right from the very first bath.

In the Early Weeks

In the first few weeks, less is more. Your baby’s skin is still adjusting to the outside world, so a gentle wipe with warm water and cotton wool is often all that’s needed.

Once they’re a few weeks old, you can begin to introduce short baths using mild, baby-safe wash like Squeaky Clean Hair & Body Wash.

Tips for a Happy Bath Time

  • Keep it warm, not hot. Aim for body temperature water (about 37°C).
  • Stay close. Always keep one hand on your baby and never leave them unattended.
  • Keep it short. Five to ten minutes is plenty.
  • Skip the bubbles. Many bubble baths contain drying agents that can irritate baby skin.
  • Pat dry, don’t rub. Use a soft towel and gently press to dry.

After the Bath

This is the perfect time for a gentle massage with Sweet Dreams Baby Oil — it helps lock in moisture and calm baby before bed. If you notice any dry patches, apply Rosy Cheeks Balm to soothe and protect.

The Power of Routine

Bath time is more than just washing, it’s a sensory experience filled with warmth, scent, and love. Keeping it consistent helps your little one know what’s coming next, making evenings calmer for everyone.

Bath time today, splash time tomorrow, every dip is a small adventure in growing up.
