What Is Vivomer? The Future of Sustainable Skincare Packaging
28 May 2025Share
Every year, millions of plastic bottles end up in landfill and oceans — lasting far longer than we’ll ever use them. At Clara’s Corner, we wanted to change that. That’s why we use Vivomer, a revolutionary material that’s as kind to the planet as our formulas are to your baby’s skin.
So, What Exactly Is Vivomer?
Vivomer is a bio-based material developed by our friends at Shellworks, a company pioneering alternatives to traditional plastics. It’s made from microorganisms — the same ones found in soil and the sea — which transform natural sugars into a strong, safe, and compostable material.
That means no fossil fuels, no harmful residues, and no waste that lingers for centuries.
How It Works
When you’re finished with your Clara’s Corner formula, simply:
- Rinse your bottle.
- Add it to your home compost or return it to us at Clara’s Corner, West Wycombe.
- If you don’t have a compost bin, you can place it in your general waste — it will still naturally break down, just a little slower.
Each bottle will completely decompose within 12 months, returning safely to nature.
🚫 Do not put in garden waste or recycling bins — these systems aren’t designed for compostable materials like Vivomer.
Why It Matters
Vivomer allows us to remove plastic from baby care without compromising on quality or durability. The bottles are strong enough to protect your formulas, yet gentle enough to return to the earth.
This innovation is more than packaging — it’s a statement. That sustainability shouldn’t be complicated or reserved for adults’ skincare. It can start at the very beginning, with the smallest members of the family.
A First for Baby Skincare
Clara’s Corner is proud to be one of the first baby skincare brands in the UK to use Vivomer. Because caring for your baby’s skin and caring for the planet should go hand in hand.
